Everyone knows that the magic number of points to keep a team in the Premier League is 40 – Claudio Ranieri even joked about us reaching that milestone during our title-winning season.

There have, of course, been plenty of teams who have survived with fewer than 40 points, but it’s certainly a benchmark for those sides seeking to avoid relegation.

In the Championship, though, the target isn’t as widely known, and that’s probably partly due to the fact that it fluctuates so much each season.

We’ve had a look at the figures from the last ten Championship campaigns to determine how many points Leicester City might need in order to preserve their second-tier status.
