I watched my niece play Under-9s football the other day, standing alongside parents in a wide variety of coloured Dry Robes, players' siblings sitting bored because they've been dragged out of bed on a Sunday morning.

After the tenth goal went in, the clouds started to bubble up and then came the rain. A heavy shower both dampened the enthusiasm of the loud lady screaming incoherent instructions, and all the players who stood still getting drenched with their sleeves seemingly growing longer with each rain drop.

In this situation, the player who looks the most uninterested in playing is the goalkeeper - my old position. Before the commentary microphone became my football career, I had dreams of making it as a professional, as we all did.
