The seemingly efficient and much needed changes in pre-season have brought an air of optimism over the past six weeks, but the 1-0 win over Northampton Town in the First Round of the Carabao Cup had a familiarity that left many of us wondering what, if anything, had actually changed.
Caleb Okoli's 15th minute header was the difference between the sides, though the nigh-on 78% possession stats exposed what might become the status-quo this upcoming season, with the Foxes expected to have to break down visiting sides in particular at the King Power Stadium.
Russell Martin's new-look side got off to a lacklustre start to their competitive campaign and there are many issues still very visible. But with only one game of any meaning to date and plenty of positives also in view, as Foxes fans, we should expect this to be a season of attrition.
