Five players with Leicester City connections are through to the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after every former Fox found themselves on the winning side in the last 16.
Starting with England, ex-loanee Harry Kane once again led the line for the Three Lions in their remarkable last 16 tie against Mexico in Mexico City.
After absorbing the early pressure in a phenomenally atmospheric Estadio Azteca, England took a quick-fire 2-0 lead thanks to a Jude Bellingham double, the second of which was assisted by Kane’s low ball across the box.
The task then was to maintain the two-goal cushion until half-time, but the co-hosts had other ideas, and after England failed to clear a corner, Julian Quinones lashed home the loose ball to give Mexico hope going into the break.
