Leicester City Women continued their preparations for the WSL 2 season with a 2-0 friendly defeat to Liverpool on Saturday.

The scoreline mirrored the previous meeting between the two sides in the WSL back in March, a month in which Liverpool essentially saved their season with wins against the Foxes and Merseyside rivals Everton, either side of a draw with Brighton.

The Reds finished just one place above City in the end, but comfortably eight points clear of the relegation play-off position.

In Saturday’s friendly on Merseyside, Liverpool led 2-0 at the break thanks to goals from Jenna Clark and Marie Hobinger, who was making her first appearance after almost a year out with an ACL injury.
