Premier League champion Kasper Schmeichel has announced his retirement from football at the age of 39.
The legendary former Leicester City captain and Denmark goalkeeper has made the decision after being told his serious shoulder injury would keep him out of football for over a year.
Schmeichel is out of contract after being absent from Martin O'Neill's Celtic since February and after consulting with surgeons has decided to end his playing career.
Kasper suffered the injury during a Nations League quarter-final defeat to Portugal in March 2025.
He played on with Denmark having used all of their substitutes.
Schmeichel then aggravated the issue in Celtic's Europa League defeat against Stuttgart 11 months later.
