Leicester have sacked manager Marti Cifuentes after just over six months in charge. A dismal run has left the Foxes teetering on the edge, with an upcoming points deduction likely to drop the club into the relegation zone.
Cifuentes departs the club following a 2-1 home loss to relegation threatened Oxford United where chants of ‘Sacked in the Morning' and ‘We Want Marti Out’ reverberated around the stadium. Owner Khun Top was in attendance for the first time in over two months, pulling the plug on the Spaniard’s spell in charge of the Foxes.
The departure was confirmed on the LCFC website, with Khun Top making the change after just six months in charge. Top said, "This has been a difficult decision and not one I have taken lightly. I would like to thank Martí for the total commitment he has shown during his time at Leicester City. He gave everything to the role and worked tirelessly to help us achieve our targets.
“However, I believe this is the right step at this time to improve performances and results, and to act in the best interests of Leicester City Football Club. Martí leaves with our thanks and our best wishes for the future.”
