Former Leicester City Assistant Manager, John Robertson, has died at the age of 72.

The former Scotland international worked under legendary Foxes boss Martin O'Neill from 1995 until their departure to Scottish giants Celtic in 2000, along with coach Steve Walford.

His career in the game started as an amateur in Scotland, before he joined Nottingham Forest in 1970, where he would go on to make over 500 appearances. He won the league title in the 1977/78 season, before winning successive European Cups for the Reds, where he would score the winning goal in the 1980 Final against Hamburg.

Robertson would make the move across the East Midlands to rivals Derby County in 1983, spending an injury-hit two year spell at the Baseball Ground, before returning to Forest in 1985. However, his second spell at the club was short and he would spend the remainder of his career across a number of Midlands based non-league sides.
