Yet this pre-season feels different. For the first time in what seems like a long while (the two consecutive relegations have certainly numbed the mind), there is a sense of cautious optimism around the football club.
It isn't simply because Russell Martin has arrived with fresh ideas, nor is it solely because the squad appears to be changing after two deeply disappointing seasons. It is because a new generation of Leicester players are beginning to force themselves into the conversation.
