Andrew Hughes Must Go: Leicester City’s Set-Piece Coach Has Failed After Championship Relegation

One relegation can be dismissed as a disastrous season. Relegation again, this time out of the Championship in 2025/26, is something far more serious.

It points to structural decline, poor standards and a football club that has failed to learn from previous mistakes.

For Leicester City, dropping into League One is an embarrassment for a club that was recently in the Premier League and had ambitions of bouncing straight back. Responsibility sits across the board, from ownership, to recruitment, to coaching.

But one department that deserves particular scrutiny is set-pieces, which puts specialist coach Andrew Hughes directly in focus.
