Crunching the numbers: How does Fatawu and Mavididi's form compare to that of two years ago?

At the start of this season, most of us expected to at least be seriously challenging for a play-off place, despite how disastrous the Premier League campaign was.

Part of the reason for this blue-tinted optimism was the fact that Stephy Mavididi and Abdul Fatawu were absolutely a cut-above under Enzo Maresca. They were comfortably amongst the best players in the division, and we all anticipated that they would be demonstrating that again this time around.

On the face of it, neither player seems to be doing as well as they were in that title-winning season, however, most would blame that on the poor performance of the team overall.

I’m rarely one to form a radical opinion on the spot (I usually leave that to a certain Mr Pete Selby!) so I decided to look at the statistics behind the two wingers, comparing their contributions this season to the same stage of the season two years ago – Gameweek 26.
