Today marks a sad yet inevitable day, as Abdul Fatawu leaves Leicester City after making 100 appearances in three seasons at the club.

This summer, we should have been convincing him to stay and propel us back into the Premier League. We should have been building around him as the focal point of our attack. Russell Martin should have been putting an arm around him to remind him what a wonderful footballer he is.

Instead, we're facing just our second season in the third tier, and neither Fatawu nor Leicester City had a choice when it came to his departure this summer.

There's no way you come back to spend another season at City after having played at the World Cup and had reported interest from a number of top flight teams across Europe. And if you're Leicester City Football Club, there's no way you turn down the biggest sale in League One history.
