If Ricardo Pereira does move on from Leicester City this summer, he will leave behind a legacy that few full-backs in the club’s modern history can match.

Signed in 2018 from Porto, the Portuguese defender quickly established himself as one of the Premier League’s most complete right-backs and became a central figure during one of the most successful periods the club has enjoyed in recent years.

From the outset, Ricardo brought a blend of technical quality, intelligence and attacking intent that elevated Leicester’s right flank. He was as comfortable stepping into midfield as he was defending one-on-one, and his ability to carry the ball forward made him a constant threat. During the 2018–19 season, he was not only Leicester’s standout performer but widely regarded as one of the best full-backs in the league, deservedly picking up the club’s Player of the Season award.

Those early years captured Ricardo at his peak. He was instrumental in Leicester’s push towards the top end of the Premier League and played a key role in the FA Cup triumph in 2021, a historic moment that remains one of the club’s greatest modern achievements.
