There is a very different feeling around Leicester City compared to where the club found itself just a few months ago. The doom and gloom that followed consecutive relegations is gradually being replaced by cautious optimism.

Russell Martin has brought fresh ideas despite wariness of his appointment from a significant section of fans. The players appear to have responded positively and supporters have enjoyed seeing a squad playing with far more purpose during the early weeks of pre-season.

Add in the emergence of several academy players, and for the first time in a long while, there is a genuine feeling that Leicester are moving in the right direction. Of course, pre-season optimism is exactly that – optimism.
