Monga’s Man City Move – Necessary or Avoidable?

On 11th July, the day after his 17th birthday, Jeremy Monga moved from Leicester City to Manchester City in a deal worth £10million up front, with £2.5million in add-ons.
He became the second-youngest player to play in the Premier League when Ruud van Nistelrooy gave him his debut against Newcastle on 7th April 2025, aged 15 years and 271 days.
Monga made 37 senior appearances for the Foxes, registering one goal and two assists.
Monga was with Leicester City for the best part of a decade, which is a long time in football, and is even more significant given the fact that he has only just turned 17.
