Perhaps a jigsaw puzzle isn’t the best analogy, given that football players are definitely more like moving parts than inanimate pieces of cardboard, but stick with me for a moment.
The picture on the front of the box has been a bleak one for the last two seasons: we’ve only won 18 of our last 84 league games, suffering back-to-back relegations along the way.
Enzo Maresca decided he was too good for the Leicester job, so he stepped up to the more advanced jigsaw – a Chelsea side with more pieces and the expectation of creating a more beautiful picture that might even win a prize or two.
