Leicester City Women suffered a tight 2-1 defeat to West Ham in their first home game of 2026 on Sunday.

City returned to the King Power Stadium hoping for an upturn in fortunes after coming off the back of consecutive away losses to Spurs in the WSL and FA Cup respectively.

A well-placed Verena Hanshaw free-kick from just outside the box gave the Hammers the lead in the 34th minute, against the run of play.

Shekiera Martinez cut in from the left flank to whip a wonderful finish past Olivia Clark, doubling the away side’s lead on 63 minutes.
