Leicester City Women began their Women’s Super League 2 campaign with a hard-earned 1-0 victory on the road against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.
It was a perfect start to the season for Rick Passmoor’s side, who registered their first away win in over two and a half years, the last being a 1-0 victory away at Everton in 2024.
The breakthrough came in the 55th minute when Sam Tierney’s low driven cross into the six-yard box forced a mistake from Sheffield United defender Leanne Cowan, who turned the ball into her own net to give Leicester the lead.
The Foxes managed to hold on and could have scored another with substitute Alisha Leihmann striking the post after an Emilia Pelgander strike was saved.
