Experienced goalkeeper Alex McCarthy has joined Leicester City on a two-year deal after the expiration of his Southampton contract.

The 36-year-old joins on the same day as forward Conor Chaplin, another free transfer who has signed for City until 2029.

McCarthy arrives at the club after spending the last decade on the south coast, with eight out of his ten seasons at Southampton spent in the Premier League.

He played eight league games under Russell Martin in the 2023/24 Championship season which saw Southampton promoted via the play-offs, with City winning the league under Enzo Maresca.
