Leicester City have announced that they have mutually agreed to terminate the contract of centre-back Jannik Vestergaard.

Few players at Leicester City have divided opinion quite like the towering Dane. Since arriving in 2021, he has oscillated between scapegoat and steady performer, depending largely on Leicester’s broader fortunes.

His departure comes in the same week as that of a similarly divisive figure, Harry Winks, showing that new boss Russell Martin, and the club’s hierarchy, are cracking on with clearing out high-earning wantaway players.

Various stories have emerged about Vestergaard over the years, questioning his commitment to the club.
